1) Can you tell us a little bit about you and your catering business? What’s the story behind your company?

We offer all types of catering, covering all function requirements to most Perth metro and country areas. We cater for all occasions 365 days per year including weddings, birthdays, corporate functions, sporting events and many more.

Our Friendly staffs are always waiting on your call to help organize and plan your next function making sure that is stress free and fun for you and your Guest. We do all the work so you can completely enjoy your function and entertain your guests. We will leave the place as it was, you won’t even know we have been there.
WA Spit Roast strives to offer the best value money while maintaining the highest service promise and quality of food. Once you pay and book you functions everything is yours. Any leftover food will be packed and left aside for your enjoyment.

We believe in our product, which is why we offer a TASTE BEFORE YOU BUY option. Our friendly staff are too happy to meet with you, discuss your function while you sample some of our menu items.

Choose from a variety or menus or request something you might like and we will put it together. Nothing is too hard. All meat is cooked on site in our specially designed rotisserie ovens to ensure the meat contains the most moisture and flavour possible.

WA Spit Roast was established in 1996 and is one of WA’s largest spit roast caterers, with professionalism and exceptional customer service.

WA Spit Roast is dedicated to ensuring your function is catered for in a professional and friendly approach, with unbeatable value. Our dedicated and professional staffs make no compromise on service, quality, quantity or presentation of your food and function.

We have operated as a caterer in Western Australia for over 15 years. Our headquarters are in O’Connor and has two operational facilities outrightwhich houses our commercial kitchen and is used to conduct the ‘back of house’ portion of our business. The nature of this establishment allows us to expand into current and future growth markets in order to provide our clients with a greater range of products and services.

We currently employ 120 full, part-time and casual staff which includes 11 full-time administrations and kitchen staff including 2 fulltime chefs. Our staff has been exposed to the highest level of training and display an exceptional degree of service, therefore highly suitable all assignments.

In addition to having RSA qualified staff, we also maintain a Special Facilities License. We are able to cater for and provide a number of liquor packages as and if required to suit any function. We have previously provided many of our customers with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage packages in which we have received plenty of positive feedback.

We have at our disposal a wide array of portable cooking, warming and cooling equipment in order to enable us to provide an even better quality of service for our clients — regardless of the function’s locale. We also have a fleet of vehicles to service our customers including a completely mobile catering van.

We believe that our success to date has been based upon providing our customers with a service that exceeds their expectations, but at a price which does not exceed their budget which is why we continue to frequent users such as Perth Wildcats, Hopman Cup, Green Machine Boxing, City of South Perth, Alinta Gas, Cadbury Schweppes, Commonwealth Bank, Edith Cowan University, City of South Perth, Fremantle Arts Centre, Fremantle Prison, Harvey Norman, MG Kailis, Murdoch University, NAB to name a few.

2) How did you get started in the catering industry?

Has the business working over east and though that the market in WA suited this kind of business

3) Who is your average customer, and what type of catering services do you offer?

The average customer is the every person who just wants to enjoy a function at their house or venue where they do not have to do anything. It mainly revolves around bday’s, weddings, anniversary, end of season windups, xmas lunch and dinner, Melbourne cup and other events

4) What is the most challenging aspects of running a top catering business?

The major challenge in to maintain the high standard and consistence that everyone wants and expects these days as well as the quality and the availability of the staff to make sure that the service is always second to none is very time consuming.

5) Where do you get your culinary inspiration?

We ove to eat food. So why not make the food as good as you can and share it around so all can enjoy a good meal. We also have staff sessions pow wow sessions where ideas are put forward and our chef is constantly playing with ingredients to come up with different combinations. We also get ideas from TV, magazines, special request from clients and always try to use what the in season favourite is.

6) Can you tell us about the philosophy behind the products and ingredients you use in your cooking and why?

The entire business is based around the best quality roast meats you can eat. We have specialty ovens and the time and method that the meat is cooked is what sets us apart from the rest. We can almost turn rubber into fillet mignon. We aim to provide a good quality meal at a realistic price. The goal for for a Guest to be happy but mainly for the host to be able to relax and enjoy the function with their Guests.

7) What is a normal day (a busy day) as a caterer?

Well on average we are busy most of the time but the weekends are where we are always pushed to the limits. We 20-40 functions per week but when busy days really hits like Melbourne cup, 45 function can be done on the one day and certain days in Dec can have over 60 functions in one day.

8.) What is your advice to people looking for a good catering provider?

Main thing is pick a catering that suits / specialises in the event type that you are having. Make sure that they have been around for a while, have a good track record, have all the food safe and hygiene requirements and have a good reputation with repeat business. What questions should be asked before hiring a catering company? Are they local and based in the state that the function will be in. Are the staff trained catering staff and actually work for the company not an agency, do they have a Gold Licence and Food Safe certificate.

9) What is the most challenging thing about being an entrepreneur in the catering industry?

Keeping the business competitive while providing top quality food and service. The other thing here in WA is maintaining and finding good staff.

10) What is your company’s signature dish? (and what makes it yummy!)

CLASSIC SPIT ROAST – WA Spit Roast is known for its succulent roasted meats, in particular the Beef. It is the best because of how it is cooked and what it is cooked in. we have specially designed ovens set to cook to perfection every time.

11) Now time to tell us what makes your food and your catering services amazing? (time for self promotion!)

Some added info attached- WA Spit Roast has been running since 1996 and has proven over time that it produces the best food and provides great service from the first phone call to the catering consultants till the clean up of the catering staff who ran the function. The meat is always cooked to perfection in our specially designed spit roasting ovens. We have many qualified chefs and catering staff with our head chef having 3 gold plates and 2 Michelin stars under his belt. We offer a wide variety of options to cater for all needs.
